It is a day when people come together by wearing pink shirts to school or work to show they are against bullying.
You can wear a pink shirt to school or wear one at home if your school is doing distanced e-learning. David Shepherd left and Travis Price right in , spreading the word of their "sea of pink" campaign on the internet. In in Nova Scotia, Grade 12 students David Shepherd, Travis Price and a few friends saw that a Grade 9 student was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. They decided to go out and buy a bunch of pink shirts and hand them out to other students to wear.
Since then, the idea has only grown each year, with worldwide support and participation. Countries across the globe are now organizing anti-bullying fundraisers of their own, including Japan, New Zealand, China, Panama, and numerous others. In fact, last year alone, people in almost countries shared their support of Pink Shirt Day through social media posts and donations.
Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February every year; join us next Pink Shirt Day on February 23rd, in our mission to create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives. As the Pink Shirt Day movement grows each year, we not only see more and more people practicing kindness — both online and off — we are pleased to use the funds raised through official merchandise sales and donations to help hundreds of kids affected by bullying.
In alone, we were able to support programs that impacted more than 59, youth and children.
